Child and Adolescent Outpatient Services

Child and Adolescent Outpatient Services meets the needs of families from diverse backgrounds who may benefit from outpatient assessment and treatment. We diagnose and treat children, adolescents, and families with a variety of mental health problems including depression, anxiety, attention deficits, emotional regulation difficulties, mood disorders, and other behavioral concerns. Families work with a primary therapist who is responsible for coordinating all aspects of care. This therapist is a member of a team that includes specialists in psychiatry, psychology, social work, counseling, and nursing. In addition, services are offered to infants, children, adolescents, and their families who may be experiencing stress due to a medical illness, change in family situation, or other life event.

Living Soul LLC

Living Soul is an institution dedicated to improving the quality of life for all our clients, their families, and those who care for them. We are devoted to the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA), the only scientifically proven treatment for children with autism.

Our ultimate goal is to become a world-class and global ABA provider for clients with autism and other related disabilities. We do this by challenging our clients to develop strong social skills and enabling them to expand their boundaries through proven ABA services and intervention. Our team takes an individualized approach, dealing with the need of each client and their role in the community. We use applied behavior analysis to study and treat behavior, reducing negative responses, and reinforcing positive behavior.

Our program expands beyond the client and to the family, empowering loved ones to be active participants in the process of improving the mental health of the client. We provide services at home, school, and other uplifting community environments. At Living Soul, we don’t hone on a ‘disability’, but rather work to enhance the abilities of every single client.

NYSTART services are available to individuals age 6 or over who have intellectual and developmental disabilities who present with behavioral and mental health concerns, and are eligible for OPWDD. START stands for Systemic, Therapeutic Assessment, Resources and Treatment. “Systemic” means that the entire circle, or system, of services and care is addressed. “Therapeutic Assessment” means that skilled clinicians evaluate and assess individuals to understand their therapeutic needs. “Resources” means that based on clinical assessment, completed by the NYSTART team, some individuals enrolled in services may need additional resources such as a short-term stay at a Therapeutic NYSTART Resource Center or in home support provided by a NYSTART counselor. “Treatment” refers to the services an individual receives to improve their crisis situation, these can include, but are not limited to counseling, staff/caregiver training, recreational activities, medication review, and skill-building activities.

NYSTART uses a person-centered, positive, evidence-informed approach to help individuals, families, caregivers, agencies, and other providers. NYSTART offers training, consultation and technical assistance on the use of positive behavioral supports services, and other therapeutic tools. The program builds on existing resources by providing clinical assessments (including psychiatric, behavioral and medical), consultation, education and training, crisis response and therapeutic recreation.

Proud Moments ABA

Our Proud Moments Rochester clinic opened in 2021. We offer an inviting and well-appointed hub for staff, families, and the Proud Moments teams. We provide a warm, safe, and welcoming environment where high-quality intervention is provided by exceptionally well-trained staff.

Our ABA therapists are also equipped to serve children at home if needed. This flexibility will help you to choose the right autistic treatment plan that best suits your family – at home or in the clinic.

Our ABA clinics specialize in helping children younger than school age (0-5) progress towards their individual goals through intensive ABA therapy programs. Clinic-based treatment can also benefit older children, depending on their individual needs.

SAGE Rochester LLC

Hi! My name is Emily Carpenter, and I am the founder of SAGE Rochester. SAGE, which stands for support, advocate, grow, educate, is a concept I developed after seeing firsthand the lack of personalized in home resources and strategies available for those with special needs and their families.

I recently resigned as an elementary 12-1-1 special education teacher in a suburb outside of Rochester, NY. I began my studies at SUNY Fredonia, and finished with my Master's at the Warner School of Education at the University of Rochester. I am certified in special education, general education, as well as English to Speakers of other Languages (ESOL).

I have always had a passion for working with children with special needs. I have experience with students with a variety of diagnoses throughout my years including Down Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, ADHD/ADD, Emotional Trauma, and more.

Consistency is key to success in life for anyone, but especially for those with disabilities. When visuals, schedules, social stories, and other supports are available not only in the school setting but at home, an individual is able to foster more independence, growth, and success. Along with consistent in home supports, outside school supports such as social skills groups or executive functioning classes can make a huge impact on an individual's life.

So whether you would like to see your child independently brush their teeth and get ready in the morning, stop acting out negatively, gain social skills or need support with the IEP process - SAGE is here to help!
