2016 Annual Fall Conference

Thursday, October 20, 2016 | 9AM – 4PM | The Strong National Museum of Play

Join us for this one-of-a-kind training opportunity developed by Carol Stock Kranowitz for AutismUp. The conference will enhance educators’ and caregivers’ ability to support individuals with autism in the school and community.

2016conference_CarolKranowitzAn educator and writer for over 25 years, Carol Stock Kranowitz is one of the foremost experts in the field of Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). Her Out-of-Sync Child series of books are the “go-to” resource for parents and professionals working with children with SPD. Her books and workshops show parents, educators and other professionals how sensory issues play out – and provide fun & functional techniques for addressing them at home and school.

Register online by October 6, 2016.

1: Sensory Processing
Examine the neurological process of organizing information about the multiple sensations we experience everyday. Explore the eight sensory systems.

2: Sensory Processing Disorder
Learn to recognize characteristics of SPD and the conditions often associated with it. Children with SPD don’t behave as we would expect, not because they won’t, but because they can’t.

3: Treating SPD
Explore treatment techniques and recent research, including Occupational Therapy using a sensory integration approach. Identify appropriate interventions to support individual children.

4: Kids Gotta Move
Discover fun, functional, hands-on activities that develop and enhance sensory and perceptual motor skills that will keep kids moving and learning.

Why attend THIS conference?

  • Because Carol is an internationally recognized expert on Sensory Processing! Her award winning ‘The Out of Sync Child’ books are the go-to manuals for parents and professionals.
  • Because great minds think differently – and learn from one another! Share best practices and strategies that work, while learning from an expert about how to help all children who think differently to learn together and from one another.
  • Because it’s timely! 1 in 68 students are diagnosed with a autism and require differentiated support and instruction today and in classrooms of the future.
  • Because sensory regulation is key to success! This conference addresses the importance of specialized sensory programs, like those found at the new AutismUp Multi-Sensory Learning Environment, designed to address the sensory needs of children with autism across all settings.
  • Because it’s a great deal in your own backyard! The conference will be held at The Strong, and this six-hour training costs only $99 per person.
