AU F.L.I.T.E. Prep

A community-based adult summer program exploring Rochester, with a focus on transition, vocation, and daily living skills. All of the activities planned have a functional aspect. Friendship, Life, Independence, Transition, Education.

AU F.L.I.T.E. Prep is a 6-week long summer program designed to provide individuals with life applicable independent living skills. The elemental components of AU F.L.I.T.E. Prep are: Friendship, Life, Independence, Transition, Education.

AU F.L.I.T.E. Prep is open to all abilities and geared towards participants 18 years and older, who want to learn more about building transition based independent living skills over the summer break while sharing social experiences with like-minded peers. Through skill development learning opportunities at AutismUp and community inclusion-based applications, our program is designed to not only prepare our participants for success in the community, but to also bridge the gap between semesters at school.

AutismUp’s Support Coaches will work closely with participants to build lasting relationships and to help co-pilot some of the nuances of maturity, independent living, and life beyond school programs.

Participants will meet at AutismUp (855 Publishers Parkway, Webster, NY 14580) Monday, Tuesdays, and Fridays. The program runs from July 8th– August 16thand meets from 9:00a – 1:00p. On Mondays and Tuesday’s participants can expect to learn new skills in a classroom style setting, on Fridays, we will take what they have learn and practice out in the community. AutismUp will provide transportation to and from inclusive community excursions.

* Community expenses such as: food, entry passes, admission tickets, etc. are not covered in the registration cost. All extra expenses have to be provided by the participant and will be notified ahead of time for outings that require spending money.

Ages: 18 +

Classroom Size: 4 students to 1 instructor. Maximum 8 participants.

Focus: Readiness, Community Inclusion

Criteria: Participants must have safe and socially appropriate comportment in the community

Goals:
1 - Young adults will learn functional independent skills in the community.

2 - Young adults will learn and build on social and communication skills

3 - Young adults will learn basic vocational skills

Duration: 6 weeks

Rate: $1,500 / Full session
