Employment Specialist

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, Rochester, New York

Hours: Full-time, flexible hours with some regular evenings and weekends

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Pay Range: $24.00 -$25.00

Position Summary: Provides career development services for individuals with disabilities. This includes both adults and transition aged students. Services provided include, but are not limited to, vocational assessments, work readiness training, self-advocacy training, job exploration, work-based learning, exploration of post-secondary options, internship, career development and job coaching. The Employment Specialist will provide numerous customized support services with the goal of assisting individuals to perform to industry standards. The Employment Specialist will meet with employers, to develop and secure internships and additional opportunities within the business. Ensure that the needs of the business are being met as well as the overall satisfaction with the employee. The role of the Employment Specialist is twofold, supporting both the individual and the business(es).

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, organize, and analyze information about participants through case records, interest inventories, interviews, and professional sources, to appraise their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics for employment planning
  • Conducts individual and group lessons covering a full range of job seeking and job performance skills
  • Delivers employability skill curriculum in grouped or 1:1 settings
  • Performs community-based work assessments of individuals’ vocational aptitudes
  • May assist in developing resumes, completing applications, and developing interviewing skills May provide support during job interviews if needed and appropriate
  • Provides on-going, person-centered support and counseling, catering to the unique needs of the individual.
  • Monitor participants’ job performance and job-related skills; evaluate participants’ skills, set realistic goals, coach participants as they work toward employment related goals
  • Completes all mandated documentation requirements as required by agency and funders
  • May participate in intake/exit meetings for ACCES-VR participants

Qualifications:

An associate degree or bachelor’s degree or combined experiential equivalent providing vocational services for individuals with disabilities. Experience providing ACCES-VR services preferred.


Mobile Food Services and Community Cafe Manager

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, Rochester, New York

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, flexible hours with some regular evenings and weekends

Pay Range: $28.00 - $33.00/per hour

Position Summary:

The Manager will oversee a new innovative program designed to support participants in engaging the community and acquiring career skills in food services by working an ice cream truck’s retail operations and expanding related programming priorities such as “Perk Up Café”

Responsibilities:

  • Leverages the truck and other program assets to expand AutismUp food-related offerings, including Perk Up café for additional learning and employment-building opportunities.
  • Secures required ice cream truck permits and registrations Coordinates code-standard cleaning and equipment
  • Ensures and documents maintenance for both mechanical and food-related upkeep
  • Potential to take on supervisory role as the programs and staffing expand
  • Manage a budget
  • Along with other assigned staff members, drives and operates the truck
  • Keeps the truck and other food service stations stocked with product in a safe and efficient manner
  • Assists and supports teachers in teaching and coaching participants in their work.
  • Facilitates assessments of individuals’ vocational aptitudes.
  • Provides on-going, person-centered support
  • Takes a collaborative approach by interfacing with other professional support staff to better evaluate and address the needs of individuals.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with people with autism or/and other disabilities
  • Project management experience
  • Comfort operating a large vehicle in urban and highway settings
  • Serv-Safe certification preferred or willingness to acquire with organization’s support
  • Four years’ experience and a four-year degree in relevant field, or equivalent combined education and work experience
  • Experience in business, food service, retail, mobile vending, or related fields

Personal Fitness Instructor

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, Rochester, New York

Hours: Full-time, 30-35 hours, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends

Pay Range: $22.00 - $24.00/per hour

Position Summary:

The Personal Fitness Instructor will facilitate and provide direct instruction in an individual fitness-based program. Program will focus on fitness related activities and tailored specifically for each participant. Must be able to modify exercises based on participant needs as well as be able to motivate participants to reach their individualized goals.

Responsibilities:

Connect with each participant and/or family members to create an individualized fitness plan. Coordinate and schedule individual training sessions with participants and/or family members. Demonstrate various exercises and routines. Supervise participant’s exercise routines and assist them in utilizing the correct techniques to minimize injury and improve fitness. Monitor individual goals and objectives of participants while providing families progress updates. Responsible for the supervision and safety of program participants. Instructs and motivates individuals and groups in physical activities, including but not limited to: stretching, cardiovascular, exercise, and strength training. Works closely with the Fitness Coordinator with ensuring the AutismUp Fitness Programs remain innovative both from equipment and support perspective.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor Degree preferred
  • Personal Fitness Certification required
  • 2+ years professional experience preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with ASD or other disabilities
  • Experience/training in Adaptive P.E. helpful

Must be able to lift 35 lbs. and are physically able to maneuver safely throughout the Fitness Room and Gymnasium.


Program Support Coach

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, and other locations in the community

Hours: Part-time, afternoons, evenings and weekends

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside participants to help with achievement of individual goals and objectives
  • Supervision and safety of program participants
  • Support the Program Facilitator and the objectives of the program
  • Assist the Program Facilitator in the social development and behavior management of participants

Qualifications:

Passion for working with children with different abilities 2+ years of childcare experience High School education, some college preferred.
