Full Life Academy Instructor

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, Rochester, New York

Hours: Full-time & part-time positions available, Monday-Friday, weekends and evenings as needed

Position Summary: The Full Life Academy Instructor will facilitate and provide program development, direct instruction, and oversight in a group setting that focuses on growth and skill development for participants. Instruction will be provided across all environments including the classroom and virtual, community, and job site. The Full Life Academy Instructor will develop and implement individualized curriculum.

Responsibilities: Facilitate and instruct participants with various abilities in a group setting. Responsible for the supervision and safety of program participants. Develop and implement curriculum and daily activities. Manage and direct support staff to be effectively assisting and supervising participants. Monitor and document participant progress. Work collaboratively with Director of AutismUp’s Center for Community Transition. Participate in team meetings, participant and family conferences. Partner with families and participants to provide input in ongoing planning and implementation.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Communication Science and Disorders, Human Services or related field A certification in secondary special education, Work Based Learning or Career and Technical Education preferred

Minimum two years of work experience working directly with young adults of all abilities Coaching and/or educating parents of children with autism (or related disabilities)

Demonstrated experience in a leadership role

Demonstrated experience managing and supporting groups and individuals

Strong language and communication skills (written and oral)

Valid Driver’s License


Program Assistant for Full Life Academy

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, Rochester, New York

Hours: 20-25 hours per week, afternoons, evenings and weekends (flexible schedule required)

Position Summary: The Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the Full Life Academy on a day-to-day capacity. Will maintain flexibility in meeting the needs of the Program, which consists of supporting the staff, participants, families, and the overall Full Life Academy Program Department.

Responsibilities: Facilitates and provides direct instruction and oversight to participants with various abilities in a classroom/community-based setting and virtually Assists Director of the Center for Community Transition and teachers to develop classes and lesson plans Assists with the management of volunteers/interns/ community partners and direct support staff to be effectively assisting and supervising participants Communicates with the Director of the Center for Community Transition and teachers on participant’s progress. Responsible for individual goals and objectives of participants. Responsible for the supervision and safety of program participants. Helps facilitate social interactions between participants in the program.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree require

d 2+ years of related professional experience required

Experience working with individuals with ASD or other disabilities

Strong language and communication skills (written and oral)

Valid Driver’s License


Personal Fitness Instructor

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, Rochester, New York

Hours: Part-time, afternoons, evenings and weekends

Position Summary: The Personal Fitness Instructor will facilitate and provide direct instruction in an individual fitness-based program. Program will focus on fitness related activities and tailored specifically for each participant. Must be able to modify exercises based on participant needs as well as be able to motivate participants to reach their individualized goals.

Responsibilities: Connect with each participant and/or family members to create an individualized fitness plan. Coordinate and schedule individual training sessions with participants and/or family members. Demonstrate various exercises and routines. Supervise participant’s exercise routines and assist them in utilizing the correct techniques to minimize injury and improve fitness. Monitor individual goals and objectives of participants while providing families progress updates. Responsible for the supervision and safety of program participants. Communicate with Program Director on participant’s progress.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree or college experience in related field preferred. Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities a plus.

The Personal Fitness Instructor is required to have a personal fitness certification, and a good understanding of physical fitness, exercise science, exercise techniques, and personal training.

Must be able to lift 35 lbs. and are physically able to maneuver safely throughout the Fitness Room and Gymnasium


Program Facilitator

General Qualifications:

  • Passion for working with children with different abilities
  • 2+ years of experience working with children with ASD

  • Bachelor’s degree (or currently enrolled) in related field: Psychology, OT, PT, SLP, Social Work, or Special Ed. or 2+ years of related professional experience.

Job Responsibilities: • Facilitate and instruct participants with various abilities in a classroom-based setting • Collaborate with Educational Specialist to design curriculum • Help manage and direct support staff to be effectively assisting and supervising participants • Responsible for the supervision and safety of program participants • Help facilitate social interactions between participants in the program


Program Support Coach

General Qualifications:

  • Passion for working with children with different abilities
  • 2+ years of childcare experience
  • High School education, some college preferred

Job Responsibilities: • Work alongside participants to help with achievement of individual goals and objectives • Supervision and safety of program participants • Support the Program Facilitator and the objectives of the program • Assist the Program Facilitator in the social development and behavior management of participants
