October 16: Introduction to Transition Planning for Families and Professionals who Support Students with Disabilities

DESCRIPTION

During this virtual session, guardians, family members, students, and the professionals who support them will be introduced to the planning process for post-secondary transition. Included will be an introduction to the Family Guide to Transition Planning: Preparing Students with Disabilities for Life After High School, which is a tool that can be used to help in the process. The goals of this training are to ensure that guardians, family members, students, and the professionals who support them, can work with their Committee on Special Education (CSE) to collaboratively: Assess the student's strengths, interests, and needs; Establish measurable postsecondary goals and annual goals; and Identify appropriate transition services and coordinated activities.


November 13: Advance 2 Apprenticeship

DESCRIPTION
Explore Employment First efforts through pre-apprenticeship programs and how training can upport career exploration and employment. Learn about the Advance 2 Apprenticeship efforts in supporting diveerse students' entry into the Advance Manufacturing industry.

Brandy Solomon, Employment Project Coordinator, over 10 years of experience in Supported Employment & Workforce Development, passionate about building bridges for meaningful employment for ALL.

Marilee Boylan, Director of Employment Programs for the Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities, has over 23 years of experience in supporting people with IDD, especially those with significant disabilities, to develop skills and gain employment.
