Instructor-Special Education
Location:
AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center and off-site locations
Hours:
Full-time, 30-35 hours, Tuesday – Saturday, with regular evening hours
Pay range:
$24.00 – $27.00 depending on education and experience
Position Summary:
The instructor will design and teach classes in both group and one-on-one settings as needed
for participants with autism and other disabilities to help them achieve their goals. The instructor will also
complete administrative and reporting tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Directly provides and facilitates instruction and oversight to participants with various abilities in a
classroom or/and community-based or 1:1 settings, and virtually as needed
- Assists with the management of volunteers, interns, community partners, instructors, and support staff
- Communicates with participants and families on scheduling and other matters as needed
- Assists in ensuring supplies and equipment are adequate and up-to-date
- Tracks participants’ progress and communicates accordingly with stakeholders including families
- Responsible for the supervision and safety of program participants
- Helps facilitate social interactions between participants in the program
- Provides support or may be Manager on Duty
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Experience working with individuals with ASD or other disabilities
- 1 year of teaching experience required
- A valid NYS Driver’s license and reliable transportation to AutismUp and off-site locations in Greater Rochester area are required
